I’m getting to be very, very cautious about my dry skin. Apparently I have a strain of Eczema called Atopic Dermatitis. I am wanting to go to extents of just washing my body thoroughly with plain water, and not using Dove body wash soap (although Dove is good at keeping moisture on the skin). To stem off any breakouts of AD.
I’ve noticed that even with not touching my body with soap, my skin still appears to slightly maintain smoothness and moisture.
So, again, I shower three times a day, but I’m beginning to not use soap on my body. Is this an unwise choice? Thank you for answering.

Hi, you must be very uncomfortable. I am also, i have psoriasis which is all over my body.. I DON’T use soap and i am perfectly clean. What I use is coconut oil mixed with sugar. And my friends are now starting to use it. Coconut oil has antibacterial properties that cleans the skin more so than soap, and at the same time moisturises the skin. The sugar when rubbed over lightly the skin buffs the skin to rid the dead cells (exfoliation). It the moment I am using Renu from Fiji. I bought all the hair products also and bought them in bulk. But you can easily make your own but going to your health store and buying raw sugar and coconut oil and mixing the two in 2 equal parts.
Also, there are other alternatives like baby washes but all still have chemicals.. I prefer the natural way and this would be very effective adn cheap. I gave you a link below about coconut oils and what it is good for. Good luck~

It probably not even the soap why do u shower 3 times a day?It might be because of all the water and soap that touches your body on a daily basis. Usually for everybody there body is dry after coming out of the shower. This is probably happening because it occurs 3 times a day and maybe your skin just cant take all the soap you use on it.

well not using soap is just keeping ur body dirty, which is disgusting, try using a lighter body wash, something natural, and use herbal products such as soap maybe, some farmers markets have home made natural soap you can buy that might even help ur skin, try some stuff and see what works, just dont go without washing! he he.

Stop showering that much, your only making it worse. Take a bath in oatmeal…yes, just pur a can of oatmeal in the bath water. That will calm and sooth your skin. Use a very very mild soap on your body and moisturize with either hemp seed oil / lotion or an oatmeal base lotion. Your not going to get rid of it, but it will be much better!!!

Eww tht’s nasty, you wouldn’t ever really be clean. And why do u shower 3 times a day, how smelly are u?
U should just use a moisturizing body wash/moisturizing soap and apply lotion throughout the day, and limit showers once a day, like everyone else.

well i only shower once a day so i think that may be your problem!
shower in the morning! sleep on your smelly bed and get all the grease back into your skin then shower in the morning before you head out!
i rarely shower twice a day unless i get a haircut or have been working out or doing backbreaking manual labour and am dripping with sweat!

you will get some build up and oils to stay on there….
if you have a skin condition, best to stay away from scented Dove soaps, and I was told you don’t need to shower 3 times a day, it dries out your skin
just use the recommended lotion like aveeno

  8. Karlee says:

It’s okay but I’d recommend using soap for the sake of others cause you could get pretty smelly xD. I’d suggest using a very gentle soap like baby wash or something along with a good moisturizer like vitamin E oil or emu oil to keep dry skin under control.

  9. Winry Rockbell says:

use Cetaphil and Aveeno after you shower with soap. if you do wash with soap, do it ever 2 or 3 days

  10. Matt says:

ehhh hard to say. there are different medicines you can get or special soap. but i would always use soap at least once

  11. Amber says:

    You are probably really smelly…

  12. Cara says:

my daughter had some issues with her skin due to giving birth and toxemia of prenancy which became extremely bad beyond belief i know this sounds strange but what you might want to try is epsom salt bath water soaks id start with cool water add warmer water that you can stand .. 3 times a day see epsom salt is not expensive and is a natural aid to your skin so if it burns the water is too hot..the next one to try is adding a pan of tea regular tea like your going to make a gallon of tea and pour that in your bath..surprising they work better than you think and they are cheap and you can use soaps i would not use dove or ivory soap my daughter when she was little had major iritation with them…

Why not try baking soda? It’s gentle and you could just use it dry and it’ll make sort of a paste when it gets wet. It’s great for cleaning and deodorizing.
I would think bathing or showering three times a day, especially if you use hot water, would dry your skin worse than the Dove.
Also, my granddaughter has eczema and hers breaks out in specific places. On the backs of her knees and at the base of her neck. Is yours like that? Maybe you could just skip the soap in those places.
There are certain parts of your body that really need to be washed thoroughly with soap. Otherwise your skin could begin to break down.
