Does Your Toddler Dribble A Lot?

My 2yr old daughter dribbles so much her lower face is covered in painful looking sores which the doctor said is contact dermatitis, the cream did seem to work but its got worse again. She isn’t teething because I keep checking. When she eats she gets her food all over her chin, she talks non stop & this seems to create a mountain of spit all over her mouth and chin. It was easy to control her dribble as a baby because she wouldn’t fight me keeping it dry, but now she won’t let me near her face and it seems pointless anyway as the slobber comes right back within seconds of me mopping it up.
Is it normal for a child this age to dribble huge quantities when not teething?

I would go back to your doctor and ask him to look at her ears – my niece was terribly dribbly until she was nearly four – eventually she was diagnosed with glue ear, which can have the effect of making them dribble excessively. Once she had grommets fitted, the dribbling got a whole lot better.

She may have an issue with the muscles in her mouth. My son dribbled a LOT when he wasn’t teething, so we had to work on his jaw muscles to strengthen them up so he wouldn’t dribble. Give her milkshakes and have her drink them through a straw, that will strengthen those muscles. Anything thick like that will do if she can sip it through a straw. My son doesn’t dribble as much anymore, unless he’s teething.

you need to find a qualified pediatrician. this is not normal. My daughter will create a bit of spittle when she ‘kisses’ me or her mom, but nothing close to what you are experiencing.

Not this question again? everyone told u vaseline would help with the sores. You make her sound like a st bernard.
