Do I Have An Std Or Infection?
Posted by: Alan in Contact Dermatitis, tags: Have, Infection
ok this is really embarrassing…but here it goes.
I had sex with my g/f 2 weeks ago…and like 2 days afterwards……i got this weird rash….and my left testicle and the gland about it got really swollen, and my penis and lesticle is more “vascular” than normal…
So, i go to the doctor and he says i just have “contact dermatitis” probably from using that new sperimicide and the swelling is probably from an infection of some sort…..he said things should get better in about 3 days after some prednisode and antibiotics
The rash got a little better, but that it.
Any ideas?
its been 4 days

give the medicine time to work. If it doesn’t get better, go back. Now worries for now.

Go back to the doctor and let him know its not working and that you would like a blood test to know for sure and not a guess or an assumption , or that you need something stronger

I am so glad you are concerned about your sexual health, considering the vast majority of people seem to be in denial about the facts of STDs. Here are the FACTS: There are many common STDs. These include HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Herpes I/II, Syphilis, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Trichomoniasis, HPV/warts. 65 MILLION Americans have an incurable disease, which means they either have HIV, Hepatitis, or Herpes. Do the math; there are only 300 million Americans. So that means about 22% of our citizens will never EVER be cured of their disease, and will likely spread it to many more people if they don’t get tested. Some people know they have an Std but still continue to have unsafe sex. And that’s not considering all the OTHER std’s, which are just as dangerous. Take syphilis, for example. If left untreated it can lead to blindness, heart failure, mental retardation, and finally death!
Even though I have never had symptoms, I still had myself tested at a place called tSTD(visit their website at tstd.org for info on symptoms and how to go about getting tested). They aren’t in every state so look at their locations list to see if there is one near you. They also do MOST of the tests at a fraction of the cost that a doctor will charge(it’s $250 for all their tests; a doctor’s office will charge over $1000).
Now concerning that doctor you went to see; well, he is a jerk. The vast majority of doctors seem to be in denial just like the general public. I’m a female so I go for my “feminine visit” every year, and not once has a doctor even brought up this issue. And the times I brought it up, they acted like they didn’t want to talk about it, or thought I shouldn’t be concerned because I was monogamous, which is ridiculous because even if you are only with one person he/she may still have something.
If you used a condom, you shouldn’t really be concerned about having an std at this point. The only one that maybe would spread even with a condom would be trichomoniasis because it is a fungal parasite spread through skin to skin contact. Otherwise the bacterial ones(chlamydia, gonorrhea) and herpes(viral) can be spread through oral sex.
Maybe you are allergic to latex and are having a breakout due to that? Is this your first time having sex/using a condom? Your doctor should test you for latex intolerence/allergies, if you go back for a follow up.
I am so fortunate that I never had an STD and I hope you continue to practice safe sex so you don’t get one either! Tell your partner(s) to get tested too so you both can feel secure and safe! We all deserve good health. Good luck!
