my 4 month old has a bunch of dry skin patches all over, he has two patches on his arm that are like dry and scaly & gross. My pediatrician told me it was soborreic dermatitis. My cousin just told me she came in contact with scabies and that i should take aiden back to the doctor to find out if thats what it is.
my ped told me to use hydrocorizone cream1% everyday once a day to treat the seborric dermatitis, when i forget a dose the rash comes back. If i were to use hydrocorizone cream on scabies would it go away and come back like this? or am i freaking myself out?

One Response to “Scabies On 4 Month Old Infant?”
  1. Cowardly Lion says:

That type of rash doesn’t sound much like scabies. Scabies typically is an itchy red spotty rash with little linear (straight-line shaped) areas where the burrows are. It’s usually found between the webs of the fingers or toes.
If your pediatrician saw the rash and thought it was seborrheic dermatitis, then that’s probably what it is. Scabies and that don’t look anything alike.
If you do suspect he has scabies, take him back to the doc, because you have to use different treatments on a baby under 6 months old than some of the over the counter lice/scabies treatments.
