i have a wierd allergy….. im allergic to sunblock and spf. if i come in contact with or use it, or even touch someone who is wearing it i’ll break out in a rash called dermatitis. it happened when i was younger, and my mom passed it off as nothing (it was when i used chapstick with spf) but a few years ago i had on sunblock and got a rash all over and my lips got infected and i had to go to the hospital. they put me on steriods (not those kind) but i still get it all the time and cant always go and get the perscritption. what could i use or how could i avoid this? it happens like, 5-7 times every summer

    At some point when you have no symptoms, you may try an experiment. Have someone put a tiny dot of sunblock from 5 different brands directly on your skin. Mark down which was which with a pen. Use the sunblocks that have different kinds of SPR ingredient. If all 5 react, then you know you are right and you have to be extremely careful in summer. But if only 1 reacts, you will learn more about what is triggering the allergy. It may sound extreme to put the sunblock directly on you but you can’t keep guessing what is the allergen.
    There are some times when you will not have a reaction to any of the sunblocks. That is good because there is a chance that you are not allergic to what you think you are.

    ask your dermatologist or allergist to prescribe something that doesn’t cause a reaction and avoid sun.

    You might go with the special clothing that protects from harmful sun rays, along with a wide brimmed hat.
