Is there any way to get rid of ringworm?

My doctor prescribed me Clotrimazole and betamethasone. I put it on my arm yesterday and it seemed to fade a little, but I’m afraid to take any more of it, because I read the side effects! It says not recommended for 17 years and younger! I’m really worried now…. side effects are scaring me to the point where I get panic attacks…. & is there any other way to get rid of ring worm.
these are the side effects:
Side/adverse effects
Signs of potential side effects, especially hypersensitivity; stinging; urticaria; paresthesia; rash; secondary infection; swelling; and long-term effects, including acne or oily skin; allergic contact dermatitis; folliculitis; hypopigmentation; increased hair growth on face and body; increased hair loss on scalp; perioral dermatitis; reddish purple lines on arms, face, legs, trunk, or groin; skin atrophy; and skin maceration

Yeah that stuff has nasty side effects. I wouldn’t take it, unless the infection has already persisted more than two weeks.
So, if you just noticed the ringworm sores, and there not in someplace that your worried about scarring, then you have some time to try waiting out the infection. Check here: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/ringworm_on_body/page6_em.htm#Self-Care at Home
Try this, it worked for me. Scrub the area with a disinfectant soap, lotion the area and then cover the area with a band-aid.

I’m not quite sure but I think I had a mild version of it so I tried a fungus cream for it that I got at the store and that didn’t quite work. When I applied Hydrocortisone Cream to the spot though, eventually it went away. I do have a little hypo-pigmentation there now but I’ve been trying to apply Vitamin E lotion to it. Try to avoid tanning on that area until your skin is completely healed and any tan you do have is gone, if you feel that’s the case. Hope that helps.
