Will my Eczema interfere with getting a piercing?
Posted by: Alan in eczema treatment, tags: Eczema, Getting, interfere, Piercing
I don’t have very bad eczema, I only get occasional blotches of it when I go to dusty areas or I only get my arms wet. I got my ears pierced when I was a baby and then again when I was a little older but I cant wear earrings in my first piercing on one ear because it gets infected (Left ear), but the other ear only gets a little red but not too bad. So I was looking into getting my right cartilage pierced but I don’t know, what is your opinion.

I have pretty bad eczema whenever I’m in dry cold, but I also have *counts cuz got some more recently* 10 facial piercings, and no problem. As for the infection problem with your ears, maybe you should try using surgical grade silicone for a year in the holes. You can buy them at any Hot Topic or comparable store. Also tons of places online carry that sorta stuff too.
I do get what I refer to as ‘piercing pimples’ around the new posts though. Usually after I’ve had the piercing for two to three weeks, I get a little swelling around the post and if I press gently I can drain it, and a small amount of fairly clear fluid exits. This is pretty normal for a lot of people, it just means it’s healing. But it can be slightly sore and irritating, and a little warm to the touch, much the way a mild infection can be. When I get those I just keep the area a little extra clean, but I don’t use anything too astringent (i just use some saline water that I mix up and if it’s an oral piercing I gargle with salt water rather than mouth wash until the areas completely healed) I find this works really well and I’ve had piercings in my face for quite a few years now.
For your ears, if you really want to be able to put something in them or to keep the holes, use acrylic, pyrex, bone or silicone posts for a few months at least. And never, ever wear cheap earrings, that can be a ‘death sentence’ to the piercing pretty quick. It won’t hurt you, it’s just you’re more likely to get some kind of infection, just like you mentioned. Then once your skin’s more used to having something in the holes, you can graduate to metal again, but avoid silver – many people have a mild allergy to it. So stick with gold – stuff you KNOW is gold btw, not gold tone crap – surgical steel, titanium (<–sp?) and all that good stuff. There’s plenty of things you can do now, there’s lots of different sorts of posts that can be used. Heck I think there’s even post-guards, where you can slip somethin’ completely hypoallergenic over the original post.
Another trick you can also try for your ears is to dip the post of the earring into Cortizone-10. That’s what I do whenever I’m going to put in silver earrings and it works like a charm.

Eczema shows your body is toxic and your regular detox organs: colon, kidneys, liver are clogged and need cleaning and healing.
In summary, your body is currently toxic which does not need additional stresses from something like ear piercing.

Goright on ahead. Obviosuly ecxema is an allergic reaction, so you might want to look into that. You can ask if eczema will interfere with the piercing with your doctor and/or the people that pierce your ears. Even a dermotologist might do

Cartilage I think wouldnt be as bad for a peircing because its different from the earlobe :/ The earlobe is thicker and sorta differnt textured as opposed to the cartilage part :/ Just saying
Sound slike a Good idea though, I would go for it
Hope it helped?
