NO. Eczema is basically “derm speak” for a dermatitis, or inflamed skin. As such, it can certainly become inflamed because of an allergic reaction to something, such as contact with poison ivy. But, it can become inflamed by just being irritated, such as coming into contact with something that is too harsh for the skin, such as a harsh detergent. And, of course, it can be irritated from within, too, such as from certain disease states that have no known allergens causing it, such as atopic dermatitis.

Allergic reaction is one the eczema causes. other causes are:

    - abnormal functions of the immune system

    - Outbreaks of eczema can also start from humidity, physiological stress and frequent change in temperature.
