Anyone ever hear of hard water causing acne and eczema?
Posted by: Alan in eczema treatment, tags: acne, Anyone, Causing, Eczema, Ever, hard, hear, Water
Two family members are suffering from adult acne and eczema in my house. The water has been tested and is hard-with calcium and magnesium. Wondering if the acne isn’t clearing up because of the hard water not completely cleaning the skin and pores. I am already on two prescription acne creams and it ’s not working.

Yep it can. Where I live we have extremely hard water. 2 words, water softener. Expensive yet totally worth it.

Yes, It is true.
It will be better if you follow the advice of water softener. If the foundation is good, the problem will get solved faster.
Acne and eczema are skin diseases and occur very easily even if the slightly mistake is made. It is very important to always clean skin often. I have suffered from it before, and still do from time to time as it is a life long skin disease. Although used the word disease, it is not as serious if properly treated.
Different patients require different treating based on their age, sex, hormones and skin type. You have to be very careful in using skin products. Always buy skin products that are of the correct pH value for the skin, i.e. 5.5. And buy more original skin products, with lesser chemicals as they trigger the acne and eczema to start off. This includes all types of cream, face-washes, make up, etc.
And acne and eczema are two very different things. You need to use two different types of creams to solve the problem. For acne problem, it usually takes a little time to vanish completely. It is advisable to have fresh fruits and vegetables as it can really help.
For eczema, i highly recommend using ‘Tenovate cream’. It works very well, and is a mild cream that won’t harm the skin. I have used it and many doctors have advised the use of this cream for eczema. I can guarantee it will work. Please use it on clean skin though.
I hope you find my advice useful. Good luck!

There could be many other reasons, given that you all share the same environment.
The eczema and acne are almost opposites. Acne is usually related to over production of sebum and oils in the skin. Eczema related to very dry patches of skin. If you have both acne and eczema together then be careful that your acne cream isn’t causing the eczema.
I would be very surprised if your water hardness is the main cause, but adding a suitable filter to the water line coming into your house will improve your water.
BTW my son tried heaps of creams and medications for acne and nothing worked. Then when he reached about 19yrs of age the acne just disappeared. If you are still going through hormonal development then you will have trouble controlling acne.
