I recently developed an allergy to metals. After 3 years of wearing my platinum ring with no problem..i noticed an allergic reaction on my finger this summer. I left the ring on thinking it would go away if i kept it dry. Needless to say it got very bad. I eventually took the ring off for it too heal and used hydrocortisone cream. In about a month it diminished but the skin remains rough. I wore my ring 24/7 only removing it to clean it for 3years, and now I can’t wear it for more than a few hours w/o the breakout. Any remedies to treat or prevent this besides not wearing my wedding ring?

Your body has been sensitized to the metal. It may go away with time.

I have heard of people coating the inside of jewelery with clear nail polish to provide a barrier, but if it were me I would line the ring with a thin strip of band aid.
