Question by Misc: As diagnosed by my doctor, I have eczema on my scalp. What can I do to relieve the itching?
I have been given a liquid and a shampoo, but with my incredibly thick hair, it is a challenge to get to the scalp. Even the dermatologist thought this may be an issue. Do any of you have a home remedy or over-the-counter purchase that has provided some relief and can get to the scalp, through thick hair?

Tea tree oil may help. Or get a shampoo with Tea Tree shampoo. I know you mentioned over the counter but Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Shampoo is awesome for soothing heads with eczema and other itchy type scalps such as psoriasis.
You can also get tea tree oil at any health store. You can suspend a few drops in some massage oil or other hair oil and massage your scalp for a few minutes, then shampoo and rinse. Make sure the get into all the itchy patches that you may have!! It does cause a tingly sensation on the scalp, and some people do not expect this and it scares them!!
Good luck!!

Eczema is just an irritation of the skin. This can sometimes be caused by an allergic reaction. Try cutting things out of your diet one thing at a time and see if the eczema subsides. I knew a girl who became allergic to eggs after being fine with them for years. She had horrible eczema. After she found out she was allergic to eggs and stopped eating them it cleared up very well.

try tea tree oil. you can buy it at your local health store like a gnc. this antibactertial and antifungual. it’s supposed to be a cure-all for everything including dry itchy scalp. you can add some to you r exsisting shampoo or put it directly onto scalp and massage in. i will try you though it has a medicinal smell. so maybe put it on at night when your not going to be around people. ok good luck to you!

Surprised the doctor didn’t prescribe something for you.
You should ask you doctor what is best for you to use.

Is the shampoo & liquid something like olux, loprox, clobex or fluocinonide??? You have to be diligent and apply it straight to your scalp. Part your your hair with a rat tail comb and apply the shampoo onto your scalp. Don’t worry about it lathering up like reg shampoo, just add enough water to get it to distribute thru your scalp. rinse and shampoo with your regular shampoo/conditioner. The liquid (fluocinonide?) you apply after your hair is dry, and the bottle should have a nozzle to make applying easier, it it should absorb into the skin quickly so you don’t have to worry about hair feeling damp. You just have to be diligent.
