My sister’s got some skin problem on her hands.
It’s mainly a rash that covers her fingers – generally around the knuckles – with these sort of water blisters, or something. They apparently get extremely itchy, which she can’t help but scratch – which eventually causes the skin to crack & she bleeds. Sometimes the blistes “weep”.
She works in a diner & finds herself washing her hands a lot, given she’s handling food. She carries out cleaning duties, so I’m guessing she comes into contact with bleach & other things. I’m not sure whether this is relevant, but it’s a chip-shop AND diner, so she’s constantly exposed to acetic acid (vinegar) and steam from the fryer. Her hands have become very dry.
She’s been to the doctor about it, as she finds it quite painful, as the skin can crack even if she hasn’t scratched it. The doctor suggested that she might have worn away the cuticle or something – exposing the more fragile skin to the elements and thus resulting in some form of dermatitis. She was prescribed a sort of emolient, which she’s been using quite religiously before bed every night & wearing gloves as she sleeps.
However, she’s been doing that for a long time now & it doesn’t seem to be clearing up. I think she has “breakouts”, though I’m not sure, as she only tends to complain about it when it’s really bad.
My mother was a nurse, back in her day & she said something like “If it’s wet – dry it out, if it’s dry – moisten it” as she was thinking that maybe the emolient was making things too moist.
Due to exams, she’s only been working one day a week – yet the irritation has stayed, so I’m not sure how strong the link is there.
I just felt like asking this, just out of sheer curiosity. She’s quite happy to go to the doctor about it, if need be, though since the emolient might not be working for her, she doubts there’s anything else they can do for her.
P.S: Pretty sure she’s been using eumovate.

if i am 26 now, never had a girlfriend because of a severe dermatitis and obesity problem – does this make me gay?
i have fixed my obesity problem by indulging in drugs (bad i know). But it is only recently i have fixed my dermatitis issues – because i really need to get myself a girlfriend. I need my confidence – bad skin and smelly foot is a turn off i know.
but what prompted me to snap out of it and fix my issues, is the fact my friends and family think i am gay – given i am 26 and never had a girlfriend.
I go to brothels when i can afford it … it keeps me sane. i masturbate frequently. my problem is i become very shy and self-conscious around women i find attractive. in close contact i get very aroused too – especially when theres sex in the air.
i am pretty sure im not gay, i can get erections thinking of curvature on women. i love women.
but its my friends/family which are causing me to stress, could i be living a delusion?

my 4 month old has a bunch of dry skin patches all over, he has two patches on his arm that are like dry and scaly & gross. My pediatrician told me it was soborreic dermatitis. My cousin just told me she came in contact with scabies and that i should take aiden back to the doctor to find out if thats what it is.
my ped told me to use hydrocorizone cream1% everyday once a day to treat the seborric dermatitis, when i forget a dose the rash comes back. If i were to use hydrocorizone cream on scabies would it go away and come back like this? or am i freaking myself out?

Having many, many adverse reactions to taking this medication. I have tried repeatedly to contact the Dr and keep getting voice mail so no appt made yet or contact with them yet – just playing phone tag. So I quit taking it two days ago due to concern caused by my loss of periods for several months (I have been abstinant for at least a year-so not pregnant), severe dry skin, eczema, Seborrheic dermatitis(bad dandruff), graying hair, severe dry mouth, insomnia, loss of appetite, muscle pain, weakness, cramps all over, fatigue, stiffness, cramping – especially in lower legs, stiff neck, mood reactions and dry mouth also. I am a 38 yr old female born 02-11-1968, I was healthy other than a very high herditary LDL level and 50 pounds over my ideal weight and hypothyroidism (on synthroid and at good TSH levels though) when put on this drug several months ago and doubt the benefits can be worth how awful life has become while on this medication. Anyone have any info or input on this at all?

I normally wear contact lenses, have atopic dermatitis, am allergic to smoke, and only wear special mascara for sensitive skin. First time I had this, I was told that my eyes started rejecting contact lenses so I’ve changed the type. A&E gave me erithromicin to treat possible infection, which I developed allergy for and refused to treat me further since the swell was gone. All four lids get swollen like a baloon and I can’t move them and hardly see anything as well. White inner part also gets swollen on both eyes so I can’t really move the eyes either. And it hurts like hell. Before that the puss is coming out in massive amounts both from upper and lower lids. It normally happens after the night out. I thought it was contact lenses; however, last night I was wearing glasses, so now I start thinking that it’s the reaction to smoke. I had this 2 or 3 times with the old lens type and everything was good since I got new ones (about 2 months ago).
