a lot of things contribute to eczema – dairy products being one of them. from my personal experience castor oil applied directly to the skin helps as well as homeopathic treatment. Cartozone creams were not good at ALL!

Question by Baba Booey!: Dry red patches on forehead and sideburn area of 3 month old – eczema?
My son is 3 months and has dry, red patches on his forehead and sideburn area. We don’t use soap on his face, we just use water so it is not a reaction. He has had these almost his whole life, sometimes they look better (less red) and then sometimes they get worse. Is this eczema? My doctor said I could try 1% hydrocortizone but that doesn’t help. Any suggestions?

Thats exactly how my daughters eczema started out. Now (thankfully – kinda) its only on her body and not face. Its going to be a bit of a struggle. Try to bath him every night for about 10-15 mins in luke warm water. Don’t towel or air dry him. With him still wet MOISTURIZE like crazy. I find it works best with my daughter (21 mths old) if i ’switch’ creams every 3-4 weeks. Best ones I’ve found are Aveeno Baby and Glaxxalbase with Glycerine (but thats a persciption, without glycerine works well to, and thats over the counter). Try to keep nails short (my daughter scratched constantly and would not keep the ‘gloves’ on). Dress him in loose and preferably cotton clothes. My doc also said we could use benedryl…but I think unless the itching got uncontrollable I’m going to try not to. plus, we’ve good a good handle on it it seems. I find it gets better in warmer weather…so fingers crossed this summer : ) good luck : )

Question by Sam: Does anyone has eczema at the side of the mouth area?
I have redness and dryness at the side of my mouth and chin area, I’ve been dealing this problem since 6 years ago. It comes back on and off. I’ve stopped using steroid on my mouth area for the past 2 years. Recently the problem has come back and it’s really red and painful. I’ve tried to moisturize daily but it’s still red. Am I doomed to use back steroid cream? Does anyone has similiar problem like this? How do you deal with it? I’m really depressed.

Well its really minor and I only get occasional outbreaks like three times a year. I donot have it anywhere else and Aveeno will usually solve the problem. If i say I have dry skin, can that save my ass and if i donot tell them?

Question by marintzer00: My son has eczema all over his diaper area. We have tried all kinds of creams and nothing works. Any remedies?
We even took him to a dermatologist and had no luck with the expensive creams. We have used soapless soap. Perfume free wipes, and all kinds of vasoline, cortizone, etc. It’s real splotchy and red. Can anyone give me some home remedies or something that might work?
