ew.. i have this what my mom thinks is eczema or something on my hand the back of my hand there’s a spot about the size of a quarter or a loony. and sometimes it gets red sometimes its skin coloured i’ve had it for months.. I dunno how i got it but yeah and its always really dry and right now its like peeling or something is there a way to get rid of this??
it’s these really tiny bumps you can’t notice them from standing away from me but i don’t like it and if someone holds my hand or wan’t to do something and needs my hand then they might think its ew.

I’ve had this too, and I went to a dermatologist.
the best things to do would be
1) DO NOT scratch it…no matter how itchy it might get. This will make it worse
2)Use a fragrance free, non-clogging moisturizer everyday. My dermatologist recommended Lubriderm lotion..the one that’s fragrance free.
3)See your doctor or dermatologist. My suggestions are only for eczema. What you have could be something else. If you know its eczema, then you can follow the advice I gave (if you want to). If your not sure, again, see your physician.

I first noticed a spot on my back that my boyfriend and I thought was an insect bite. I had an outer-circle of itchy, red, raised bumps and a single bump in the middle (sort of a ‘bulls eye’ effect, about 1.5 inches in diameter–first picture). The first doctor told me it was either ringworm or nummular eczema, and the anti-fungal cream had no effect (the spot continued to expand) but the corticosteriod cream caused it to stop spreading and it faded and stopped the itch. After the prescribed 2-weeks of use I stopped, and within a few days it started getting red again, growing larger, and became a sort of cluster of bumps about 3 inches in diameter with additional smaller circles forming around it as well (3 to be exact–2nd picture). That was in the course of a month, and about a week ago the ‘red bumpy areas’ got really dry/scaly and a thick, red, raised border formed along the outside of each red area. Most of the ‘circles’ are touching each other and the total area it covers on my back about 5 – 6 inches long/4 inches wide. The doctor I saw today spent a while looking through his skin-books before he came up with a diagnosis, and then said he thinks it’s an ‘atypical case’ because it looks slightly different.

I don’t want to say his diagnosis because I don’t want to bias anyone… but I’m wondering if ANYONE has had anything similar and how long it took to clear up and/or what they had to use to do so. Any other ideas just what it might be?

Any advice/suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks for the responses so far… I figued I’d add what the doctor told me. He said it definitely wasn’t shingles (and there isn’t any pain involved, just itching!) and he thinks it’s an ‘atypical form of EAC– Erythema Annulare Centrifugum.’ Although from the pictures on the internet, I don’t think it looks like that either and most of those cases don’t seem to have much itching involved. I don’t think there’s an infection (no pus or open sores, just dry, raised, red, itchy skin). Other ideas? Thanks for the responses so far!

My daughter had the ringworm looking circle with the bump in the center. Her doctor immediately thought that it was MRSA because it had it’s characteristics. She tested her for it but the test was negative. She didn’t know exactly what it was but decided to try an ointment called altabax to see what affect it would have. Thank God it worked. It cleared up in a matter of three days.

I would ask the doctor about MRSA. If he hasn’t already checked for this then I would find another dr.

Recently, the back of my knees has been flaring up with eczema and is so itchy, that I can’t help but scratch it, and I keep scratching till it feels better, afterwards, it burns and it feels that my skin is rougher and thicker than before, I can feel this most whilst walking. What could happen if I continue to scratch?

if youu continue to scratch, it will continue to get worse to he point where it looks lyke youu have hives. yer skin will start looking lyke it’s “bubbling” and it’ll be red and sore and possibly burn..my advice is to stop scratching it. or go to yer doctor and ask for something to put on it. something lyke fluticasone propionate. or over the counter things such as a caladryl or benadryl cream. good luck. :]

Tell him to go jump in a lake.

I am not really kidding, the lake will not have the chlorine that the local public pool has.

Why doe he want to keep the eczema?

It is fairly easy to get rid of it now, just spray on some 2.5 PH water, and it will go away in about 6 months. You can actually get a sample of the water for free. Place a wanted add on Craigslist, and ask for some alkaline water.

My son is 14 months old. His cheeks get bright red sometimes. It tends to coincide with fever. Other times his face is perfectly clear.

Light red dry patches on the back of my daughters knees. Could this be eczema?

The rash is only behind her knees, nowhere else. It isn’t a recent thing either, I noticed it a few months ago and I have been putting Eucerin Cream on it since it was very dry. It has never seemed to bother her, but it’s starting to bother me now. I was wondering if this could be Eczema and if so, do I just let it be, do I keep putting cream on it, or should I see if something can be prescribed for it?

My son has eczema. Everyone has their ideas to help, but I trust my doctor. How do I get them to back off?

My son has had horrible eczema since he was two months old. He is going on 8 months now. I took him to a dermatologist a few months ago, and he suggested the “soak & smear” technique. This involves soaking him in a lukewarm bath with a small amount of bleach, and then immediately coating him with prescribed ointment and cream. I have done this, and it’s made a drastic improvement. However, my mother in law insists that I put oil, etc. on him when the doctor has advised against it. I’ve asked/told her not to use anything other than what has been prescribed and she continues to buy & apply oils, lotions, etc… Now, his skin is breaking out again and I don’t know what to do. My son is in her care while I’m at work. While I’m reluctant to put him in daycare, I’m concerned that she will never respect my wishes. Any ideas?
