Question by ashes: My 3yr old has been getting up 105 fevers, rashes and hives, no weight gain off and on 4(1 yr) Whats going on?
3 Yr old daughter has been getting sick ever since we moved to Japan(military). She has been getting recurrent high fevers(105) and rashes or hives that soon follow within weeks. She has also had viral and bacterial infections left and right. I am so tired of not getting any answers as to why this happens every other week. My 10 month infant is showing signs of all this too. The only thing I do know is that she was just diagnosed with alopecia(hair falling out in some places) and eczema which is seasonal and does not relate to the stuff she is getting.
I do not know what else to do as far as these fevers and rashes, because they are causing problems. Also I just found out that she has not gained any weight in over 3 months. I do not know what is going on. Any suggestions? Please help!

My lil one is two and she also has eczema :( ….she breaks out in hives too….I think you should take both of them to a child doctor and if push comes to shove you should move away from japan…your childrens safty should always be number one which I’m pretty sure it is :) …keep us updated and let us know whats going on with the kiddos

Eczema really needs to be monitored by a dermatologist. You should be drinking lots of water and keeping your face very clean and very moisturized. Try Aveeno products. They have a line especially for Eczema. Good luck.

Question by MarineMom: My 14 y/o gets a brown/dirt looking ‘rash’ on her neck from time to time. I’ve been told it’s Eczema?
However, everything I research Eczema is a red/bumpy rash. I’ve tried creams even alcohol wipes to try and remove it. Nothing seems to work. It comes and goes, but lasts for weeks. Does anyone have any idea what this might be??? Thank you.

I’m 14 too and had eczema. I’d decribe it as simillar to what you’ve decribed. Not all eczema has to be red and bumby, that usually decribes what it looks like when it is immflamed after scratching it. For me my eczema comes and goes too. Usually it is brought on by colder, less humid weather and stress. Recently I had been living in australia where it went away, but when i came back to New Zealand it came back again.

Question by lunatic louise: Been on eczema diet for 8 months but am thinking of using steroid cream again?
About 8 months ago i got so fed with my eczema that i decided to change my diet that instant. I went and had allergy tests done and removed all foods that i was allergic or intolerant to. I stopped eating all processed food and only ate fruit, veg, potatoes, chicken tuna, lamb. It was absolute hell and my eczema got 10 times worse but then got 100 times better. Recently i have been having a flare up and am wondering if after all this time i should just give in and use the steroid cream on my arms. They are agony and look horrible. I stopped using all prescribed creams when i started my diet apart from a moisturiser. Any help gratefully recieved. Thanks

O sweetie, what a shame after you worked so hard at it. Well done you, I can never be that disciplined.

Have you thought about aromatherapy instead of the steroid creams?

I use the one that we make at the apothecary, I can’t recommend it enough.
Have a look and let me know if you need any more help.

Hang in there chick!!!

The ending of last school year was my first ever having the outbreak but i didn’t know it at that point. I recently went to the doctor and figured out that it was eczema, but by then it had been infected and nasty. I was embarrassed in school and although only two people brought it to my attention, i tried to hide it at ll times by putting my books over my arms etc. well the doctor gave me some creams and for now it has gone down and my skin has for the most part cleared up, i felt way too self conscious.

I wished I had known before that I had eczema because it would not have gotten so bad.

oh yeah, and the itching and burning is horrible.
