Barrier creams may be useful for some situations. They may be applied to exposed skin areas to prevent contact with harmful agents. There are two main types of barrier creams: water-repellant and solvent-repellant. The primary application of water-repellant creams is in machine shop operations, where gloves cannot always be worn safely, and where water-based cutting fluids are used. The use of good quality barrier creams on exposed skin areas can offer protection against the development of dermatitis if used consistently and re-applied as necessary throughout the shift. The use of moisturizing creams may also be protective. Although barrier creams and moisturizing creams protect the skin, they must be viewed as supplements only. They do not replace good personal hygiene or the use of chemical-protective gloves. Two very good sites for information on industrial dermatitis are the NIOSH website at www.cdc.gov and the British HSE website at www.hse.gov.uk . This is from the 1950 film Industrial Dermatitis made by the UK Ministry of Labour. The entire film covers methods of prevention and cure of industrial dermatitis, as shown through the work of a new Medical Officer at a factory where the disease is prevalent. Proper preventative measures (such as protective clothing, control of harmful fumes, and, above all, through cleanliness) are coupled with patient curative treatment, including a correct psychological approach, and the incidence of the disease is greatly reduced. Answer by amandarez73 You need to go to a doctor and get a steroid cream that you would use for outbreaks. The cream then will help with maintenence.

Question by Shawn M: ECZEMA CREAM FOR ADULTS?
I have an Eczema breakout on the left side of my neck the size of a 50cent piece. Very noticeable and have been to 2 dermatologist and a doctor and both prescribed creams that are not effective just stopping the itching. Now it’s to the point of darkening very quickly.
Can someone please recommend a good cream? Something?

Answer by Ave Natural treatment worked best for me. I cleared my eczema with serenaskin remedies. I used ointment and spray on the skin, and took extract internally to prevent flare-ups. It has been a few months ago and my skin is still clear.
Question by Horny Bastard: Has anyone tried using California Baby cream for ECZEMA RASH ON THE FACE?
I have mild eczema on my face, more obvious on my cheeks. The kind that is pinkish-red patchy flat rash.
I’d like to know can using moisturizer alone clear off the pinkish-red patchy flat rash? Because I really, really don’t want to use hydrocortisone cream or any other steroid creams anymore, people who have eczema will know why.
Also, I came across this site that has reviews on this cream called,
“California Baby Calendula Cream”
It’s rated 4.5 out of 5 stars based on 44 users and their reviews on this product. 90% of them commented that the cream cleared off rash problems like cradle crap, eczema rash on face etc. Even some adults commented that they have facial eczema rash, perioral dermatitis, dry skin etc used this product and has worked wonders in healing their skin.
The other 10% said it made it worse.
I also don’t want to use moisturizer cream that contains petroleum, mineral oil, or paraffin, I had bad experience from those stupid ingredients. That’s why now I’m thinking if I should try leaning to the natural side like California Baby’s product. Has anyone of you tried the product?

Answer by Cait Z yes, the california baby line is great for eczema and chronic dry skin- the cream you mentioned is great..I find that the “Soothing and Healing” spray for sunburn and dry skin works really well..I mix a little bottled water with the lotion spray as the spray can be a little sticky- definitely try this – I think you will be pleasantly surprised and relieved
