Is VALERATE and ingredient? Is that what seperates the two?
Will long term use of both or either cause any side effects in small children??
My twins have eczema and these creams seem to do the best job. They are 2 yrs old now and have been using the creams for almost ALL of their lives. Some days it’s just spot treatment, other days we need to use it like lotion, because they are having a “whole body” reaction.

Answer by honey I am 41 and I have used hydro cortisone for years almost 40. The difference is the strength OTC only is 0.1% and Westcort the brand name for hydrocortisone w/VALERATE is 0.2%. Your best bet is to talk to the pharmacist about the two medications. Also as a child, I under went UV treatment and used a special soap, as well as a special diet. Many times they will out grown it and it will mainly be spot treatment as they get older. Mine was worse in the winter.

Answer by barticus You’re asking for a lot. I think the first thing is to get a correct diagnosis. Eczema (aka dermatitis) is related and usually less severe than psoriasis, but only a dermatologist can tell for sure. I have moderate to severe dermatitis (if untreated) have studied it pretty extensively in medical school libraries, and I wouldn’t hazard a guess.
Frankly, I wouldn’t rule out not being able to see a doctor. Check with your local human services office or the community outreach office of a hospital. I’m not telling you which therapy will work best for you. But it’s worth investigating your options. I tried many therapies (traditional, Chinese, alternative, etc.) until I found one that works. You’d better be prepared for a long hard struggle to wellness. Just make sure you’re heading up the right path, and if you don’t know what your options are, your chances of getting well are more limited.

Answer by DGS Eczema is a local allergy coming as a hyperpigmented patch itchy. Urticaria is some chemical or food substance to which you are allergic to is eaten, causes small itchy swellings over skin all over body. Psoriasis is of unknown cause (some say it is due to mental tension) that forms itchy areas over patches of skin and skin is desquamated as scales of epidermal tissue.

eczema basically makes your skin really dry and itchy…I’ve mostly seen it on arms and in the skin between where your arm bends…
