I’ve had Contact Dermatitis (a type of eczema) since October 2006. I was sleeping in a hotel and the next morning I woke up with the rash all over my hands and legs! It’s been like torture ever since :(
The beginning was the worst.. and has pretty much disappeared except for the scar/marks on my legs. Last night some showed up on the back of my neck too. I used some medicated lotion that my doctor gave me, but now when I itch my skin, it scratches off!
I read somewhere online that soy products could cause eczema. That makes sense because I started drinking soymilk instead of regular milk around the same time the rash appeared. Is soy a common cause of eczema?
I’m 18 if that helps!

I had a bad case of contact dermatitis on my face. It kept flaking off for months. Eventually it made a hard crust with scaling and I lost more skin when that came off in December. The new skin underneath is pink and it’s deeper than the normal skin so my cheeks have a rough, scaly appearance. The pink areas continue to expand, which I guess means the old skin is still coming off? The pattern of redness/pinkness changes daily. The new skin is still pink after 45+ days. Will it take months for my face to heal? Can my face still heal after it has been through so much?

I have had eczema flares as long as I can remember. My mom said I was born with it. Anyway, when I was younger I would get these red, itchy bumps all over my ribs and stomach that looked like chickenpox, I also had horribly bad dry skin everywhere that looked like scales. We lived in the desert at the time, and my doctors (military) tried everything. When we moved to Alaska it went away (whether because of hitting puberty or a change of climate, no idea). About a year ago I got these sores on my ankles that looked like diabetic ulcers, and the skin on my face became so dry it looked like i smudged flour all over it and i could peel it off in flakes. I tried, almost literally, everything to get rid of it. Every non-sented, non-paraben, organic, natural, and home-remedy under the sun. I was finally diagnosed with contact dermatitis (meaning I was allergic to some unknown thing) on my ankles, and simply more eczema on my face. They gave me Aquaphor with some steroid in it for my legs, which works wonderfully, and they gave me Elidel for my face. Elidel kills me. When I put it on it feels like my face is on fire, and is tight like when sitting in front of a camp fire. Then my face turns bright red and hurts so bad I cant wash it off fast enough.
So I suppose my real question is, other than Elidel what else is there that my crappy military doctor could do for me?
P.S. I’m also on Yazmin, doc said it should help…but not even a little bit. I’ve never had acne of any type so I haven’t the foggiest idea what she was thinking.

I know it’s contact dermatitis because I’ve looked it up on the internet. I’ve never had eczema before and it’s only on the back of my neck so I’m pretty sure it’s coming from this new stuff I’ve started using in my hair. I’ve stopped using stuff in my hair but I want to get rid of the eczema. I’ve been broken out since Tuesday. At first it was really itchy and I just thought it was a bug bite on my neck but then it started spreading and now it’s all scaly and sore. What are some creams I can use to get rid of it? Also can I put halloween make up on top of it?

Our daughter has bad eczema, and her primary doctor thinks it’s contact dermatitis. It’s on her elbows and arms, sides of her legs and knees, and her cheeks. However, I fed her squash for the first time today, and now she’s got a rash on her butt and a little on her chest and stomach (in addition to what she already has). I can’t think of anything she could have come into contact with today that would cause a rash on her butt or stomach. We haven’t changed diapers, wipes, diaper cream, or laundry detergent for her (Dreft only). Is this more than likely a reaction to squash? Any personal anecdotes or general knowledge about allergies and eczema are greatly appreciated. She’s only 5 months old, so seeing an allergist won’t do much good yet (so I’ve been told). Thanks!
