Question by Maria: Eczema is now on my face!?
Okay, here is the full story… I was born with a bunch of food allergies(dairy, beans, pollen, wheat…) and asthma. I also had an extreme case of eczema. It covered my legs, ankles, neck, and the insides of my arms. It was so bad that I woke up and the sheets were soaked with blood. My mom tried putting on gloves, but that didn’t work. Were there is a will, there is a way, they say. My parents took me to a dermatologist and they gave me injections and cream cortisone and preylon. But the only thing that happened was that I got extremely fat (steroids do that to you, you know). So they took me off the meds. Then we moved to Florida, and that didn’t help a bit. My eczema was horrible! SO… my parents took me to a naturopath in Puerto Rico and he said that I was allergic to wheat and other things like tomatoes and eggplant?! So he prescribed these natural meds and a wheat free diet. So I did what he said for one month and it actually worked. My skin cleared up for the most part, I stopped itching like I had flees but the thing was, was that the diet was so restrictive. So I broke it and I went back to normal, which is not that normal. That was 2 years ago.
Now… its winter. The wost time for my eczema. It is so bad! It hurts! I usually don’t cry but now I do, the pain is unbearable. I can’t take a bath because it hurts. I can’t control myself, I have to itch, and it fells good when I do, but then I have to face the consequences. And now its crawling up the sides of my neck onto my face and down my back. My wost nightmare is coming true. I am already self conscious about having eczema but know I am seriously getting very depressed. Do you have any advise? Are you going through the same thing? I really need help (I am desperate!!!!!!!!)

All I can say is to go to a hospital. Maybe you have a disease of some sort which is causing all this pain and suffering. Try to think of all the positive things about your life too! You’re probably very beautiful :) Am I right?

Question by erinh555: Help baby eczema: Vanicream and probiotics?
I have tried almost every cream/lotion out there (I think he hates the aquaphor as he wakes up every 2 hours when I give it to him) and my 9 month old still has severe eczema. I’m about to try Vanicream if I can find it. I REALLY don’t want to use the steroids. I also heard that probiotics work. Has anyone had experience with using Vanicream or probiotics? What probiotics did you use? How long until you saw an improvement?

my son had eczema REALLY REALLY bad for about 2 months. He had a bunch of tests ran on him because they couldn’t figure out what it was. My peditrician gave him a perscription for eucerin mixed with a steriod and I saw an IMMEDIATE difference. I used the combo lotion for about 5 days and it was completely gone… after i stopped it came back in small spots and i just applied eucerin and it would go away. Good Luck!

Question by Ashwini: i have some dry eczema in my hand with itching. Please help me out.?
i am taking homeopath medicines for past 4 years but it is not getting cured.

Well, after 4 years I would say it is safe to stop wasting your money on the homeopathic remedies. Sometimes eczema is caused by bacteria on the skin’s surface. Try soaking your hand in a bowl of water with a tablespoon of bleach in it for a few minutes every night for a few nights. This will kill off most of the bacteria on your hand and may help if bacteria is indeed the cause. Helped my wife.

Question by Tiffany: How do I know my baby has eczema?
My daughter is 4 months old I am afraid she might have ezcema. Back of her arms have rash and it’s dry, also under her chin has rash. I am not sure if it’s eczema but I am afraid it might be. WE have an appointment with her doc in a month but I wanted to know how to recognize eczema in babies. I’ve been bathing her daily so the dryness might have contributed to the baths… Can babies this young scratch their skin if it itchs cuz I heard when babies have eczema they scratch a lot. I am terrified because I have a friend whose son has eczema and she goes through a lot of hardship with his diet. I think he’s got extreme one though. So what are the signs to recognize if it’s indeed eczema???
Oh about the rash on her neck, she drools a lot and spits a lot when she eats so maybe the spitting and milk irritates her skin.. Could this be the reason?

Rough, dry, raised patches are baby eczema. My daughter has it most babies grow out of it. It’s due to extra sensitive baby skin. We have a prescription for it and honestly, Baby Aveeno Eczema Care work just as well. I paid 11$ for a small tube. /My daughter never scratched it, She is also only 4 month, they don’t really have the coordination to do so. But she does grab at the eczema on her face. Good luck.
