Question by quiet_hands: Infant Eczema – Why shouldn’t I use Vaseline? What should I use? What are the side effects of hydro cortisone?
My one-month-old has Eczema on her cheeks and our doctor told us to use Vaseline on it. I was liberally applying Vaseline after every feeding (every 3-4 hours), but it doesn’t seem to be getting better, in fact, it’s spreading to her forehead. I just looked up Eczema in “What To Expect The First Year” and it says that I shouldn’t use Vaseline to treat her Eczema, so now I don’t know what to do.
I just want to know if anyone knows why Vaseline isn’t recommended?
What I could possibly use for her face to control her breakouts?
What side effects have you experienced of hydro cortisone use? Hydro cortisone is our last option, we don’t want to give her something with steroids in it unless we absolutely have to.
FYI – The doctor did tell us to use hydro cortisone if the Vaseline didn’t work. Thank you for your concern.

Answer by * Princess Aimee’s Mummy * vaseline doesnt do much to be honest so it beats me why your doctor would recommend it. when my brother had eczma as a baby my mum used sodocreme on him and it worked really well. when it came back i think he was prescribed something at the doctors, im not sure what it was called but perhaps go to your nearest pharmacy and see what they could recommend then ask your doctor for a prescription form for it.
Question by emokiller69: Are the effects of steroid cream for eczema reversible?
for example the skin thinning thing, can i get back to normal? the cream clears the eczema, but the skin becomes thin…and the eczema always comes back to the exact same spot! I hate this condition, and i am very worried about the side effects…i wonder if i can use something other than steroids to clear my eczema…the itching is disrupting my sleep, if i don’t get a good night rest i might try tranquilizers! so does anyone has any remedy for this? i know eczema is incurable but there has to be one!!

Answer by cureforsure The best Natural Treatment For Curing Eczema without any side effects and medicines in few Days:
I have been prescribed the moisteriser DoubleBase to use on myface,it seems to work however certain patches of Eczema keep coming up, meaning i have to use the Hydrocotisone frequently.
I’ve used it for about 2 months now and im worrying about the side effects. Are there any alternatives???
I’m 19 years old and have had eczema since I was roughly 15. It started just on my stomach cause of the belts I wore, and then on my arms, but that was nothing until this past year. I have it bad on my arms, stomach, half my back, upper thighs, chest, and neck. And I am also half hispanic, so I scar very easily. They aren’t raised scars or anything, but just dark marks. And they stay, for years. Lotions for dry skin don’t work, I know that. But even if I do control my eczema, the scars from it will last for a long time. Can anyone relate and possibly know any way to help me with my scars, or eczema? I’m running out of options! I feel like a leper here!
