Question by spacegeek!: How can I even out my skin tone?
I used to have eczema ALL the time all over my face and rashes. I’ve stopped now (which I’m thankful for) but now it’s left my skin uneven. I’m naturally tan, but some parts of my face have blotches of white spots. I want to wear foundation, although I hate makeup and feel uncomfortable wearing anything but chapstick and mascara. I’m a photographer/model, and I hate when I’m in pictures and my face looks HORRIBLE.
I’m 13, btw.

Question by michellegoesrawr@ymail.com: Do eczema flareups still occur even when not in contact with the thing you’re allergic to?
So recently I found out that I may be allergic to chicken & eggs. It’s not certain as I have not gone to the allergist to find out but every time I eat chicken it gets REALLY bad. I still have dry, cracking skin on my arms, legs, back and neck. But since I stopped eating chicken it’s not really inflamed or that bad. Is it just because I don’t moisturize? o.o Or am I missing something?

Yes. It takes up to 48 hours for the chicken to go thru your intestines. Then, the components of the chicken go into your blood. Until used up by the body. But, if you are allergic, your body had produced anti-bodies, which hang around and jump on, that is, cause inflammation, on every chicken associated molecule in your body/blood. The next time you eat chicken, the army of anti-bodies recognizes it instantly and goes to war, so you get more of reaction much faster. Does that make sense?
I would go to an allergist, immunologist, NOT a dermatologist. They think too topically. Don’t touch a chicken or an egg for a couple of weeks before the appointment.

1) Don’t scratch it
2) Moisturize it. Use vaseline religiously until it’s gone.
3) When you shower, use cotton gloves and rub the dead skin layers off gently.
4) Change your clothes and sheets routinely. Nothing is worse than sleeping in flakes of your own dead skin to make you scratch like a fiend.
