Question by FLO: Has anyone ever had to use Hyrdocortisone 2.5% cream on their infant for a rash, eczema, etc?
My son is 8 months old and has a couple eczema patches on his arm and leg. The doctor prescribed hydrocortisone 2.5% cream (which is stronger than what you can buy at the store), I need to know if anyone has used this on a baby this young and if so, did it work? any reaction to the cream? side affects?

It is prescribed only for extreme cases but yes it does help. My son was about 9 months old when his got so bad that the Dr prescribed it. You have to watch for side-effects though as with everything there are complications that can occur with over use which is why it is prescribed for severe cases not just minor cases.

Question by janellethechef: Has anyone who has eczema ever tried taking zinc supplements?
I have terrible eczema on my legs, back and hands. The topical prescriptions I’ve been using just don’t seem to work anymore. I’m wondering if anyone else who suffers from eczema has had any luck with taking zinc supplements. I was doing a little research today and found several sources that mention that zinc deficiencies are a common cause of eczema.
Some recomended a supplement (15-20 mg/day for women 30mg/day for men) but others said a supplement wouldn’t really help.
Has anyone ever tried taking zinc for their eczema? How did that work out for you? Would you recommend it to others? Why or why not?

I have heard a lot about how water softeners may help eczema and dry skin conditions. I was just curious if anyone has used a water softener, and if it helped with dry skin, hives, and/or eczema.
Thanks
