keep the skin moisturized but take him to the dermatologist b/c they will give you cream for it…my lil cousin has eczema and her skin stay dry i have a small case of it sometimes where i just break out in a few places on my body…but try coco butter and put it on him right after he gets a bath where his skin is still moist

Question by Maria: Eczema is now on my face!?
Okay, here is the full story… I was born with a bunch of food allergies(dairy, beans, pollen, wheat…) and asthma. I also had an extreme case of eczema. It covered my legs, ankles, neck, and the insides of my arms. It was so bad that I woke up and the sheets were soaked with blood. My mom tried putting on gloves, but that didn’t work. Were there is a will, there is a way, they say. My parents took me to a dermatologist and they gave me injections and cream cortisone and preylon. But the only thing that happened was that I got extremely fat (steroids do that to you, you know). So they took me off the meds. Then we moved to Florida, and that didn’t help a bit. My eczema was horrible! SO… my parents took me to a naturopath in Puerto Rico and he said that I was allergic to wheat and other things like tomatoes and eggplant?! So he prescribed these natural meds and a wheat free diet. So I did what he said for one month and it actually worked. My skin cleared up for the most part, I stopped itching like I had flees but the thing was, was that the diet was so restrictive. So I broke it and I went back to normal, which is not that normal. That was 2 years ago.
Now… its winter. The wost time for my eczema. It is so bad! It hurts! I usually don’t cry but now I do, the pain is unbearable. I can’t take a bath because it hurts. I can’t control myself, I have to itch, and it fells good when I do, but then I have to face the consequences. And now its crawling up the sides of my neck onto my face and down my back. My wost nightmare is coming true. I am already self conscious about having eczema but know I am seriously getting very depressed. Do you have any advise? Are you going through the same thing? I really need help (I am desperate!!!!!!!!)

All I can say is to go to a hospital. Maybe you have a disease of some sort which is causing all this pain and suffering. Try to think of all the positive things about your life too! You’re probably very beautiful :) Am I right?

Question by bublet: My 5 month old has eczema on face & patches on body.?
Tried everything inc cortisone nothing works. Any sugestions for home remedies or home made ointments? Is affecting his sleeping as he cant stop itching.
We dont use any soaps of fragrences on him or anything that comes into contact with him. We only use Alpha Keri bath oil and moisterisor and occasionaly parafin. The cortisone is only 1% but realy dont like using it so dont think I would increase the cortisone strength. Is deffinatly exzema- started appearing at just 2 days old when still at hospital and only breastfed. Recently spent a week in hopsital for unrelated problems and peads couldn’t offer me any more advice and waiting list for dermatologist in our area is huge…..Thanks for posts so far- any advice is greatly appeciated!

Are you sure it’s eczema and not simply a rash. Be sure he’s not reacting to some kind of baby lotion/bath wash you’re using. Just use Ivory soap and water for awhile.

Try some A&D Ointment or an ointment with a lot of zinc in it.

The doctors generally prescribe DesOwen creame.
