Question by Alyssa: How did my rash turn into eczema?
At first i had this tiny little rash on my right arm on the inside of where my elbow is, it started getting itchy so i scratched it. After that it started spreading 2 inches all the way down to my wrist. Then the next day it went to left arm and the next day it went be my knees. My rash was a yellow skin color and my real skin color is tan. We went to the doctors and she said it was eczema but didnt tell me how i got it. How did i get from a tiny rash to eczema?

Well since I wouldn’t be deployable to some areas, due to the untimely flare ups of eczema… Plus the proper creams are not always available.

Ten months ago I got contact dermatitis from sitting in a postpartum herbal bath. It is my belief that the offending ingredient was rosemary oil. I simmered the herbal ingredients and poured the liquid into the hot bath water. I sat in the bath for about 15 minutes and within 24 hours was diagnosed with the contact dermatitis. Itching lasted for 3 months. 10 months later and I have had several bouts of severe itching in the areas with the most sensitive skin and with the longest exposure to the bath water (use your imagination). I am wondering if the rosemary oil could be being released from the skin or fat cells and since I have been sensitized to it, causing itching? As I said, this happened postpartum and I have been breastfeeding since then, which is causing me to lose weight. My thinking – losing weight could be causing break down of fat cells. Can someone tell me if this is possible or likely?

I know I have contact dermatitis. I have all the signs and symptoms of contact dermatitis. And from what I have researched and studied (I’m a nursing student), the treatments and medications I have used have resolved the problem (although it keeps coming back).
I went to visit the school clinic’s doctor today, and she diagnosed me with nummular eczema, because she saw some chicken skin-like patches on my arm. I don’t know if it’s right, but she’s been a trusted friend.
Here are the signs and symptoms I have:
>itching at night
>allergy to dust, uv rays, too much cold, contact with elastic, rubber and nickel.
>flaring (allergic flares – worsening of condition) during perspiration
>hives (both small and large ones. My body looks like a world map with many islands when I get allergic attacks.
>bronchospasms and airway constrictions (This happens when I have allergic attacks and hives don’t appear.)
>dry skin
>small nodules similar to chicken skin
>dark marks left behind after too much scratching
>scratch marks
I had really good skin condition before this. One can even call it flawless skin but now this? It’s really bothering me.
