Question by kween_r2001: Can anyone out there help me? I have a chronic skin condition that looks like ring worm…?
It’s circular in shape and starts off small (often times two tiny circles side by side). The circle (or circles) grow larger and larger and seems to go through a cycle of sorts before it finally fades and goes away, only to return later (sometimes months, sometimes years even before it comes back again). Lately, each time it comes back, it has been presenting with more and more circular lesions forming in the general area (like a cluster or them). All of the circular lesions go through the same cycle like pattern. The lesions often itch, but not always. They are rough and red on the exterior (like a ring) and somewhat smooth on the inside with less color. This condition has been coming and going in the same general area of my inner thigh for some 14 years and doctors seem dumbfounded. I’ve been to several doctors about it no one seems to have definitive answer about what this disgusting looking “disease” it on my skin. Some said it looks like “nummular eczema” but I’ve read in several places that that more likely affect elderly men. (I’m a 45 yo female who has had this condition for 14 years. ) Some doctors said it looks like ring worm, and treated it to no avail.

Help! Anyone who might have a clue. I’m getting desperate here.

Thanks.

If you look it up, you will see it’s supposed to respond to the same thing that’s in Canesten cream. I don’t know if it will help in your case (surely the docs. can get it sorted out? – Specialist?) but it might be worth a try?

Here is a web page that has information on eczema and dark skin. There is only one picture, though. Sorry I couldn’t find more.

Question by I Inquire: Does anyone know if dead sea salt really helps skin conditions like eczema?
I have Keratosis pilaris (a form of eczema) and I’ve been trying to find something to treat it. I’ve seen a lot of sites that sell dead sea products, they say it helps by cleaning out the skin follicles. What I’m wondering is if any type of sea salt really helps or if the companies lie to sell their products like most people do? I’m sure someone here has some experience with this type of thing and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, well I had it on the back of my legs for like 2 years (Til I finally went to the dermo and got it cleared up!) and whenever I got my pedicure they would use sea salt. Let me tell ya, putting an abrasive on raw skin is NOT a good idea! I have such scarring now (tho I have been assurred I am the only one that notices) that it is not worth it. Try the dermotologist. It can be inexpencive and sometimes a cream will work. (mine gave me lots of trial sizes of what I needed and it dint cost me anything but the office visit)

I have eczema in little patches on the tops of my arms. Its been there for a year or two and I moisturise it alot to keep it under control. I went to Ibiza for 2 months this year, and the whole time I was there it had gone away without any moisturising or treatment. Then sure enough, a few days after I got home it was back. Why is this? I want to recreate the conditions so I can make it go away properly!
(I live in the UK)
