a lot of things contribute to eczema – dairy products being one of them. from my personal experience castor oil applied directly to the skin helps as well as homeopathic treatment. Cartozone creams were not good at ALL!

Question by canned.ice69: Just found out my 21 month old son is allergic?
My 21 month old son has been suffering with eczema for a while now in his nappy and gets spots by his mouth as well so the doctor made him get blood tests done to check for allergy’s and he’s allergic to dairy, wheet and egg white. Dairy and wheet are a big part of his diet and now I have no idea what to feed him. We gonna speak to the doctor tomorrow. But any suggestions?

There are special allergen-free diets and formula. Also, children usually grow out of food allergies by around 3 or 4.

Question by bublet: My 5 month old has eczema on face & patches on body.?
Tried everything inc cortisone nothing works. Any sugestions for home remedies or home made ointments? Is affecting his sleeping as he cant stop itching.
We dont use any soaps of fragrences on him or anything that comes into contact with him. We only use Alpha Keri bath oil and moisterisor and occasionaly parafin. The cortisone is only 1% but realy dont like using it so dont think I would increase the cortisone strength. Is deffinatly exzema- started appearing at just 2 days old when still at hospital and only breastfed. Recently spent a week in hopsital for unrelated problems and peads couldn’t offer me any more advice and waiting list for dermatologist in our area is huge…..Thanks for posts so far- any advice is greatly appeciated!

Are you sure it’s eczema and not simply a rash. Be sure he’s not reacting to some kind of baby lotion/bath wash you’re using. Just use Ivory soap and water for awhile.

Try some A&D Ointment or an ointment with a lot of zinc in it.

The doctors generally prescribe DesOwen creame.
