Question by Jennifer D: What can cause severe eczema on a baby’s cheeks? Allergy testing came back negative. Could it be teething?
My son is 14 months old. His cheeks get bright red sometimes. It tends to coincide with fever. Other times his face is perfectly clear.

I’ve been suffering with this horrid hand rash for 6 months now. It was diagnosed by 3 different dermatologists as ‘pompholyx or dishydrotic eczema’. I’ve begun seeing an allergist/immunoligist twice weekly, since they look for the cause as opposed to just treating the symptom. We have been doing everything you can imagine, including the standard treatment and RX therapies, ‘old wive’s’ treatments, anything found on the web that someone said helped them, etc, with no relief. Its on my feet too and feels like walking on glass. I’m very upset because all my labwork came back today, I was tested for allergies to everything under the sun, including the patch test and NOTHING. I have no allergies to anything. So, my question is, if eczema is an allergic reaction to something (whether it be environmental or a food), how in the !@#$%^&* can I have it when I’m not allergic to anything??? I’m going crazy here! I’ve never had ANY skin problems in my life! This is painful and debilitating, help!
Note: We also tried homepathy, involving cleanisng (YUCK), and removing suspicious foods. No help. We eliminated stress and smoking as a factor as well. Please God, SOMEONE have the answer here! I will give you lots more than 10 freaking points if you can help me!! SERIOUSLY!
EDIT: Thanks, Sels. I do the same thing, and no relief. I even wear gloves in the dang shower! I switched all my lotions soaps, EVERYTHING to very mild formulas. :(

——–Note that my girlfriend and I have been having sex for well over two years 3-7 times a week with no protection. We have never cheated on one another which I know for a fact and the only time either of us could of came in contact with the disease would of been before 2006.

symptoms
I have no weight loss , I’m actually gaining weight which sucks but I have bad dermatitis this year. Not very active since laid off. Red blotches when I get out of the shower which started happening after I had bronchitis. Skin very dry and random itching, not constant, all over dry skin.

Two days ago I went to the doctor because I had some discomfort in my vagina and I thought I felt a bump on my labia. I thought it might be a razor bump but fearing it could be Herpes I figured I’d get it looked at anyway. She checked me out and said everything looked okay just irritated and that I had something that looked like blisters in my vaginal wall but that she had poked and prodded at them and I hadn’t reacted so it couldn’t possibly be Herpes because I would have been screaming with pain. She asked if I had done anything new and I told her I had tried the KY Intrigue heat. She went on a rant on how those things should be outlawed and said I had Contact Dermatitis. She didn’t give me any medication only told me to put a cold cloth to sooth the area and if it got too bad to use diaper rash cream, which I did use and it did make me feel better. I asked her if I should get a blood test to be positve it’s not herpes but she said it wasn’t necessary that the bumps did not act in a hepatic manner. I thought everything was fine but last night I got a fever out of nowhere and when I woke up this morning I had several more bumps on my labia. They don’t hurt and they are not liquid filled, they are just hard little bumps and my pubic area feels tender. This is only my second time shaving this area so I don’t know how bad razor bumps can get but this feels wrong to me.
