Eczema is NOT contagious it is an autoimmune reaction within one’s own body. So your itching is your own problem not from him. Get it checked out. It can be your soap, any bubble bath, laundry detergent, tampons, pads, too dry of skin. on and on. Try baby products to see if they help.

Question by Kellz: Is it possible to lose hair due to eczema?
If you have eczema on your hands and arms, can this cause that hair to fall out? Thanks.

Answer by brownislandis85
Well I am only an eczema expert because I suffer from it. I had really bad eczema when I was young: hands, arms, legs, neck, face and pretty much everywhere…
Other than myself, my dad have eczema, my old doctor have eczema, and my great uncle have eczema… and they all have tons of hair.
From experience, loss of hair has nothing to do with eczema.

Question by TinKerBel: Chronic eczema, possible infection now, what can I use over the weekend?
I have had eczema on my legs for years. I have never had an infection though and now I think I have scratched myself right into a skin infection. Red, hot, deep intense itching and pain, open sores. It’s not really bad yet, so I thought I could just put Polysporin on it over the weekend and then go to the doctor Monday if it’s not improved. Any “experts” out there? Is this ok, or am I going to make it worse?

Try not to scratch it anymore. Apply Polysporin twice a day. If swollen, elevate the area. You can apply ice x 20 mins to decrease itching and edema. See your doctor if it worsens.

In the last few months I’ve had a rash on my arms which two doctors and three nurses have told me is eczema. I’ve had ointments and creams which have healed the rash a little.

But I was just wondering if it was possible to suddenly develop eczema at age 18.
