Question by MarineMom: My 14 y/o gets a brown/dirt looking ‘rash’ on her neck from time to time. I’ve been told it’s Eczema?
However, everything I research Eczema is a red/bumpy rash. I’ve tried creams even alcohol wipes to try and remove it. Nothing seems to work. It comes and goes, but lasts for weeks. Does anyone have any idea what this might be??? Thank you.

I’m 14 too and had eczema. I’d decribe it as simillar to what you’ve decribed. Not all eczema has to be red and bumby, that usually decribes what it looks like when it is immflamed after scratching it. For me my eczema comes and goes too. Usually it is brought on by colder, less humid weather and stress. Recently I had been living in australia where it went away, but when i came back to New Zealand it came back again.

Question by Lynette: HOW do I get rid of this eczema rash?!?!?!?
A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with eczema. The rash started around Christmas as large patches underneath my arms and then spread as little red bumps all around my arms, legs, and trunk. It itched like CRAZY, so I went to immediate care and the doctor there diagnosed the rash as eczema. She first prescribed me with hydro-cortisone cream and I applied it twice a day for a week. When that wasn’t helping, they prescribed me a 6-day prednisone pack. It worked GREAT and the rash had nearly disappeared. However, I just got off the prednisone a few days ago and my skin has started itching again. Nothing like it was, but still extremely annoying. I am really not sure if I should wait it out or talk to a doctor. I just really don’t want it to spread again. Advice?

Now that the rash has been knocked out with Prednisone, try to keep it under control with the weaker hydrocortisone cream.

If that doesn’t work, get back to the doctor soon. You need to stay ahead of the rash, as you’ve seen, the more out of control it gets, the stronger a steroid you need to use on it. You want to avoid using the high potency steroids as much as possible. So when your rash isn’t responding to the prescription that you have, you need to get on the phone to the doctor.

Also, if you’re not seeing a dermatologist, I’d recommend getting an appointment with one. It can take some time to get in to a dermatologist because they are in short supply in most areas, so I’d start calling soon. General practitioners are OK, but dermatologists have a lot more expertise with these conditions.

Question by Tommy: How long can it take a rash due to allergic reactions to cats to heal?
My kid’s doctor refuses to run allergy tests. He broke out in a blistery rash that looks like poison ivy, and it lasted a month. We suspected he might be allergic to cats, and was exposed about 12 hours before breaking out, and was around them for 5 days and then once we came home it took a month for him to totally heal despite being on prednisone. Can it take up to a month for a child with eczema to heal from an allergic skin reaction to animals?

firstly, sounds like you maybe need to find a new doctor. Sorry to hear that he was alkalizeednisone. My daughter used to suffer from eczema and took cayenne pepper capsules and she got over it. CP is an alsolizer. You may want to look into Woof Creek Ranch. They sell only herbal remedies for many things. Their products are human grade meaning human can and do take the products. I have recently been using one of the products for a dog to get rid of colitis. You can email them and ask a question as they are happy to guide you to what would work.

Question by Horny Bastard: Has anyone tried using California Baby cream for ECZEMA RASH ON THE FACE?
I have mild eczema on my face, more obvious on my cheeks. The kind that is pinkish-red patchy flat rash.

I’d like to know can using moisturizer alone clear off the pinkish-red patchy flat rash? Because I really, really don’t want to use hydrocortisone cream or any other steroid creams anymore, people who have eczema will know why. :(

Also, I came across this site that has reviews on this cream called,
“California Baby Calendula Cream”

http://international.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=54802&catid=47477&crpg=3&tab=1#1

It’s rated 4.5 out of 5 stars based on 44 users and their reviews on this product. 90% of them commented that the cream cleared off rash problems like cradle crap, eczema rash on face etc. Even some adults commented that they have facial eczema rash, perioral dermatitis, dry skin etc used this product and has worked wonders in healing their skin.

The other 10% said it made it worse.

I also don’t want to use moisturizer cream that contains petroleum, mineral oil, or paraffin, I had bad experience from those stupid ingredients. That’s why now I’m thinking if I should try leaning to the natural side like California Baby’s product. Has anyone of you tried the product?

yes, the california baby line is great for eczema and chronic dry skin- the cream you mentioned is great..I find that the “Soothing and Healing” spray for sunburn and dry skin works really well..I mix a little bottled water with the lotion spray as the spray can be a little sticky- definitely try this – I think you will be pleasantly surprised and relieved

Call your local pharmacy they will be able to recommend the best thing for you to use for that. Plus, if you describe it or show them they will know exactly what it is and what you need to get for it.
