Question by newmommy: My doc has adviced to use cornstarch powder on my 4 month old baby. Any recommendations???
My son has infant eczema and it is spreading all over his body. Couple of days back it started on his neck and the doc had advised me to use fragrance free cornstarch powder. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on which one to buy.

I’ve never used cornstartch on anything other than a bad diaper rash. My son has eczema too.

I got Johnson’s Soothing Naturals Lotion, body wash. It seems to really help his skin.

After he gets a bath you should pat him dry, and then put on the lotion. If you can, let it soak in really good before you dress him. Put lotion on him every day.

I won’t give any medial advice, but you can ask about using hydrocortizone cream on him, twice a day for 5 days on patches that are really bad.

The good thing is that they usually outgrow it by the time they’re 4 or 5 years old.

Question by sarobmom: Does anyone have any good recommendations for treating eczema in a 3 month old?
I’ve tried hydrocortisone cream for a few days. I lotion her skin with Aveeno two to three times per day, keep the heat low, have a humidifier next to her crib. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does Aquaphor work?

Take her to the doctor–they’ll give the correct cream she should be using. There’s a good possibility the eczema is not eczema, but a skin reaction to a milk allergy.
