Eczema Treatment Care

Question by Jenny Rackham: are dermatitis and eczema the same thing?
so my dermatologist says I have eczema…… and I searched for stuff on the internet but I can’t find pictures or creams or anything. I tried searching dermatitis and it looks the same? Also, my dermatologist gave me some steroid creams, but I was reading that these are bad for the skin. Please advise.

Eczema is a kind of dermatitis (derma = skin) but not all dermatitis is eczema. If the doctor ordered the steroid cream you should use it. It can cause damage if it is used over a longer period of time (the skin gets thinner) but with normal usage that is not an issue.

Revised: why do i have eczema while my brother (same parents) doesnt have eczema, if it is genetic according to this geneticist?

i might have scabies, or eczema i ‘m not sure. i have reddish-pinkish bumps that are in a cluster of about 2 inches wide, right before my bikini line starts, but only on my left side. But i also have a bit of it on my back, kind of above my left kidney, but those bumps are smaller and redder (and my mom has kind of the same thing except it’s on the inside of her elbows and on her knees.) Any idea of what it could be? is it contagious? could i have gotten it from my mom?
and the bumps itch very little, but only when I touch them.

My dad has eczema and I have the same thing since I was born. This disease is driving me insane. My dad’s father has eczema too. I heard if you have eczema, you will pass it on to your children.
