if it’s really eczema, you need to moisturize him every time he gets out of the bath. use something very rich but unscented- aquaphor and vaseline are the best.

however, i would ask you doctor if it could be cradle cap. my son had cradle cap on his face and neck at that age. to rememdy it- use a teeny, very small drop of head’n’shoulers or another dandruff shampoo when you wash his hair/head. do not put it directly on his face but washing his hair with it will help.

Question by quiet_hands: Infant Eczema – Why shouldn’t I use Vaseline? What should I use? What are the side effects of hydro cortisone?
My one-month-old has Eczema on her cheeks and our doctor told us to use Vaseline on it. I was liberally applying Vaseline after every feeding (every 3-4 hours), but it doesn’t seem to be getting better, in fact, it’s spreading to her forehead. I just looked up Eczema in “What To Expect The First Year” and it says that I shouldn’t use Vaseline to treat her Eczema, so now I don’t know what to do.

I just want to know if anyone knows why Vaseline isn’t recommended?

What I could possibly use for her face to control her breakouts?

What side effects have you experienced of hydro cortisone use? Hydro cortisone is our last option, we don’t want to give her something with steroids in it unless we absolutely have to.
FYI – The doctor did tell us to use hydro cortisone if the Vaseline didn’t work. Thank you for your concern.

vaseline doesnt do much to be honest so it beats me why your doctor would recommend it. when my brother had eczma as a baby my mum used sodocreme on him and it worked really well. when it came back i think he was prescribed something at the doctors, im not sure what it was called but perhaps go to your nearest pharmacy and see what they could recommend then ask your doctor for a prescription form for it.

Question by beeeebopppbeee: diet i should go on for eczema?
i have eczema and i’ve decided to cut foods out of my diet to see if i am allergic to anything. i was planning on cutting out dairy, eggs, peanuts, and wheat. should i cut out certain types of meat too? i’ve heard about people cutting out red meat and seafood. what types of meats should I eat and stay away from? i’ve also heard that taking vitamins and fatty acid supplements helps too. please help! thank you

i’ve had eczema for about 10 years and i have tried it all but cutting food out doesn’t help with eczema. Last year i was prescribed a medication to help, it is a cream called Eledel and it worked WONDERS! my eczema has completely cleared up and has been gone for a year

Note: It is a tad bit expensive
