My son has had horrible eczema since he was two months old. He is going on 8 months now. I took him to a dermatologist a few months ago, and he suggested the “soak & smear” technique. This involves soaking him in a lukewarm bath with a small amount of bleach, and then immediately coating him with prescribed ointment and cream. I have done this, and it’s made a drastic improvement. However, my mother in law insists that I put oil, etc. on him when the doctor has advised against it. I’ve asked/told her not to use anything other than what has been prescribed and she continues to buy & apply oils, lotions, etc… Now, his skin is breaking out again and I don’t know what to do. My son is in her care while I’m at work. While I’m reluctant to put him in daycare, I’m concerned that she will never respect my wishes. Any ideas?

I’ve been suffering from contact dermatitis for a few weeks now and the only thing I can think of that’s new in my diet, environment, etc. is a current flea problem. I also sprayed my furniture with Hartz upholstery spray for fleas and that’s about when it started.

If so, how did it work for you? and do you know if its only for one type of eczema like it was saying for dandruff? or can it be used for eczema like Atopic eczema?

I believe I got an allergic reaction from soap.
(Irish Spring Moistureblast with hydro-beads)
I’ve never had a reaction like this before.
I know my mom is allergic to Ivory soap.
And I also read somewhere else on here of another guy
who also had allergies to those same 2 specific soaps.
Well, the rash started showing up Thursday.
Friday morning it became a lot more noticeable
(Rashed behind right Knee, lower back, right arm covered, all around neck,
lower face/chin, lips,Bottom of nose, up to left eye lid, and on my genitals…)
Friday night I couldn’t do anything.
Saturday was the worst of it ( Started taking benadryl, that morning)
It is atopic dermatitis/eczema.
it looks just like poison oak and started oozing pus…
Sunday was when the pain became unbearable
so I had to get to the store
I bought (Aloe vera gel, Anti-itch spray, epsom salt.)
So I took a bath in epsom salt, and after that applied Aloe Vera Gel, 3x over the day
and when the gel dried it started to ooz pus like crazy non stop.
So i had to take another epsom salt bath before going to bed.
Monday (today) – its still basically doing the same thing
I’m just dealing with it, limited to nothing. But I’m still able to cope with it
Was just wondering when is it going to stop pussing? and finally subside. Thank you
It was triggered by one of these things I recently started taking.
#1 Guess: Soap ( Irish Spring (blue), was on first bar ever out of new pack of 3)
#2 Guess: New Multivitamin (Source of life: men)
#3 Guess: Salmon (Never had problems with before)
#4 Guess: Cayenne Pepper (recently started using with cooking)
