Question by annaf: Natural treatments for my toddlers eczema?
My 2 1/2 year old has had eczema for a long time, our doctor has prescribed different creams but none of them seem to do much for my son. Recently his itching has gotten worse and my 5 month old has gotten a rash from itching on his face as well. I plan on taking them back to the doctor at some point but he doesn’t seem to be of much help. Does anyone have any experience with this and have any suggestions for natural treatment?

Try Burt’s Bees almond milk hand cream. It is very thick. I have had eczema the greater part of my life, and my 2 1/2 year old has had a light rash on his face off and on since about 6 weeks old. The Burt’s Bees seems to help, although it occasionally turns his face redder temporarily, then the next day the rash looks better. The Burts bees honey grapeseed hand lotion is nice too, but I’ve only tried the almond milk on my son. I didn’t want to go the route of the steroid ointments that the doctors prescribed. Especially if the eczema is long term like mine has been. Good luck!

My two year old has chronic eczema. His doctor wants to give him steroids and elidel. Elidel has too many side effects, as far as I’m concerned. Steroids… on a two year old… Are you kidding?
So far, what works are: Aquaphor, Aveeno lotion, and pure lanolin.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a 12 month old son who had a flesh colored, pimple look-a-like (but no puss or excessively raised) growth on his cheek, which started to appear about 10 days ago. He had it for a couple of days and one day it turned red and had seemed to have grown. I scheduled to have him checked out that day and the doctor looked at him for litterally 3 minutes and claimed the lesion to be eczema (eventhough he never once scratched that spot or seemed to appear to be itchy there). She gave him some atopic dermatitis creme and said it should dissapear in 4 days,2 days later (today) the skin and the lesion just seem to have gotten more agetated and the redness seems to have spread. I think the creme is too harsh for his skin and it doesn’t seem to help. I am going to bring him to the doctor again today, but I was wondering if anyone had any clue or any info on what this could be. The lesion right now is pretty flat and red, but if you look closely the center is more yellow than red…
